Creatures of Eira Preview - The Whisper

A new, Eira specific creature and a further development of my new stat block. I've taken some of the advice that was thrown around with the Crystal Skeleton stat block and have made changes where I sought fit as well as added or disregarded things that made sense to me.  Technically this creature is based on stories from the British Isles.

Thoughts, as always, are greatly welcome.

Special Abilities
Hypnotic Whisper – Twice a day The Whisper may whisper a command to any target (save – 4), if successful the Target must carry out the command given with a relentless need. If the same person is targeted multiple times the Hypnotic Whisper also causes the target mental damage, reflected in a -1 to their intelligence score.

Phase – When successfully attacked The Whisper has a 75% chance of vanishing utterly for 1d4 rounds. At the end of that time it may appear again within its move distance for where it vanished.

Spells – Whisper typically have the following spells available to them, however, some may know different spells or be more powerful casters. Charm Person, Cloudkill, Detect Invisibility, Dimensional Door, ESP, Fear, Fireball, Hold Person, Invisibility, Lightening Bolt, Magic Missile, Protection from Normal Missiles, Pyrotechnics, Shield, Sleep, Telekinesis, Teleport, Web.

Long age a Greater Fae of the Un-Sidhe court strove to create a means in which to defeat the Au-Sidhe without endangering the lives of his own people. However noble the Fae’s cause was, the beings he created were soon found to be uncontrollable and filled with a ceaseless bloodlust. Tall and slender, with no features on a blank pallid face, the constructs were a horror in the war between the two courts taking lives on both sides of the field.

With little ceremony and with even less regard the constructs were destroyed by the High Court of the Night Queen and soon forgotten about. Unfortunately some of the constructs survived and somehow made their way to the Mortal Realms.

Highly intelligent, The Whisper, move through the world of mortals secret beings in the darkness who move the world to their designs in a hope to create as much bloodshed and terror as possible.

There are no exact figures on how many Whisper survived the destruction of the constructs by the Night Queen. However, most estimates place the number between ten and twenty in the entirety of the Mortal Realms.

Whisper can be found anywhere, but more often than not they are background players in the games of kings and queens. Quietly moving various nobles and military men likes pawns on a chess board.

The Robathen's Coin Parts 1 -3

A long time ago I released a short story on drivethrufiction called "The Rabathen's Coin - An Arame Tale" that was meant to be the start of a series staring a mysterious thief named Arame.  Well, five years later and I have sold maybe six copies.  With that in mind I figured I might as well break it up into two or three parts and post in on the blog.

Thoughts are welcome as I am always interested in what others think of my original works.

The stench of rotten fish, sweat, mildewed wood and the ocean rose up from the black waters of the harbor in a visible mist that hung over the free trade city of Wickend adding to the already strong reek of human filth and cheap ale. The setting sun, unable to pierce the vile mist, washed over the crumbling buildings that lined the twisting streets of the Old District. From open doors and windows came the sounds of life, true life, of men laughing and boasting, of women flirting and dealing in their trades. To an outsider, the Old Distr…

Magic Item - Arcane Gauntlet

Arcane Gauntlets are small devices of leather and copper fitted to the wearer's primary hand and feature a small, thin gem imbued with pure arcane energies affixed to the palm. As a standard action the wearer of an Arcane Gauntlet may release its energies up to four times in a single encounter safely, and up to eight times if the wearer is willing to endure the burning residual heat from sustained use of the device.  If an Arcane Gauntlet is used to its maximum effect (eight times) it is inoperable until such a time as its wearer takes a long rest.
